Sarah + Jared’s Chic Nestldown Wedding

All of our couples have an amazing story to tell. Sarah and Jared’s is just a little bit cooler than most. Meeting in South Africa (hello romantic!) and joining each other on some fantastic travel adventures is one heck of a way to fall in love.

The first time I met Sarah and Jared, I was stunned by how ridiculously good looking they are. They looked like a model couple getting off the train and walking over to me, hand in hand, for our first planning session. It was during that same planning session that I confirmed their beauty was so much more than skin deep. They were kind, thoughtful, funny, and ambitious people who wanted to create a relaxed and beautiful celebrations for their international family and friends.

When you’ve traveled all over the world, you have a LOT of sites to consider when searching for a wedding venue. Having seen so much natural beauty, it was important to Sarah and Jared to have a venue that had a lot of natural beauty of its own. They found their dream venue in Nestldown. Anyone who has ever been to Nestldown knows that the grounds are truly world class, and our couple was excited to share this gorgeous property with their guests.

A Menu Fit for a World Traveler

Food is an important cultural aspect no matter where you are! Sarah and Jared wanted to ensure that the menu served at their wedding would be delicious, refreshing, and exciting for their diverse group. Matching up with the South Bay Area’s Cafe Primavera was a perfect choice. Erika Garcia worked with the couple to come up with something that fit all of the criteria and displayed beautifully against the Nestldown backdrop.

Organic, Chic, and Clean Decor

Partnering with Darcy and her superteam over at Seascape Flowers was a great choice to accentuate Nestldown’s given beauty. Using fresh, unique greenery and statement blooms (hello King Proteas!), the wedding was an organic chic dream.

Personal Touches

In addition to the solid entertainment provided by MIRA favorite Turner Hayes (aka DJ Jazzy Thunder) from Elite Entertainment, a friend of the couple entertained guests through song during dinner. The bride’s mother helped design the custom menu and table numbers that rounded out the table settings, and the best man gave one of the most heartwarming speeches of adoration we have ever heard. All in all, a perfect evening (complete with hora!)

Erica + Zach’s Fairytale Adventure Nestldown Wedding

Beauty breeds beauty. 

Being a preferred Nestldown wedding coordinator is certainly a privilege, and one we are very grateful to have. Not only because Nestldown is one of the most jaw-droppingly beautiful venues we have ever seen, but because the people that get married there tend to be really awesome people. 

Erica and Zach were absolutely no exception. From our first consultation we clicked tremendously, a connection that would last through the wedding day and beyond. They are down to earth, organized, funny, and great to look at- a wedding planners dream. Even better was their theme: an integration of their favorite Disney, sci-fi, and adventure movies and books including but not limited to Beauty and the Beast, Harry Potter, and Up!

Um. Hell yes. 

We worked on virtually every detail of Erica and Zach’s special day. First it was enlisting Poetry in Motion catering to provide the perfect mix of comfort foods and gourmet treats to fit a formal yet relaxed affair. Then it was signing on our favorite DJ Jazzy Thunder (aka. Turner Hayes) of Elite Entertainment to provide the sounds for a perfect party. Erica and Zach used personal contacts to fill their photography and videography needs, introducing us to two new awesome vendors in the process: Karla Rodriguez Videography and Gavin Leane Photography. Now it was time for the REAL fun stuff. 

Whimsy, Adventure, and Gorgeousness. 

For any fairytale inspired wedding, great flowers are a must. It was up to the very capable team at Seascape Flowers to produce a floral design fit for a princess. Darcy and her team did amazing, mixing the requested Japanese anemones with some of the most gorgesous cafe dahlias we have ever seen. Mix that with touches of mercury and rose gold metallics and neutral linens and you will find our personal type of heaven. 

Next were the tiny, personal details. Since the goal was to integrate several different movies into one event design we decided to work with non-obtrusive accent decor scattered throughout the event. The welcome table and guest tables included gold mirros and signage covered cloches. A handpainted mailbox was used to collect cards. Moss covered books, old cameras, and globes made up the bartop decor. The rings were carried in seashell containers. 

Even with the plethora of inspiration from their favorite movies, it was important to Erica and Zach to integrate some of their respective cultures into their wedding day. In addition to the Japanese anemones, Erica and her family spent hours creating and stringing the traditional 1,001 paper cranes for us to use during the ceremony and then later on in the reception for dancing. Zach’s culture was brought in during the dancing portion of the reception when the group performed the most intense hora I have ever witnessed. Seriously, it lasted at least 7 minutes and the energy reveberated across the entire mountainside. 

Last but certainly not least was the inclusion of a fun, interactive element. The Booth Bus is a refurbished vintage VW Bus that has been converted into an awesome photobooth. Anthony and his team provide everything, including the light up marquee and fun props. During every operating minute, there was a line in front of the bus- guests could simply not get enough!

Erica and Zach’s Nestldown wedding was one of those events that you’re so excited about, you almost wish they could get married all over again. We consider them dear friends and look forward to our next Nestldown wedding adventure!

Venue Of The Month – Warehouse 215

Warehouse 215 is a converted art gallery in the heart of the downtown Phoenix warehouse district. For the southwestern client, this venue is the perfect something different from the typical mountainous backdrop scene. Its industrial charm, exposed brick walls, and architectural beams make it a perfect indoor venue for any occasion.

The venue was easy to find, conveniently just south of downtown with very easy access to both I-17 and I-10. There is plenty of parking both in their dedicated lot as well along the streets and the venue entrance is very easy to find.

Guests enter through the patio, which boasts multiple alcoves for a dynamic space. There is a certain artistic flair to the area, even though only a couple of statues are permanent space. The impressive main entrance into the venue itself is through large, industrial rust metal doors, which lead guests into a small foyer perfect for a welcome table, gift table, or greeter of some sort.

Warehouse 215 offer a generous 4 hours of set-up time (we LOVE that) as well as  5 hours of event time and 1 hour of tear down time in all of their standard event packages. As the venue is indoors, clients have great flexibility with the start and end time of their events- events can end as late at midnight!

The first large open space you will encounter is Bay 2- the space most popular for ceremonies. The layout is encouraging for many different types of ceremony set-ups but circular ceremony seating looks especially great in this space! Clients can choose between a white wall backdrop, brick wall backdrop, or window backdrop and the venue rental includes black resin folding chairs are included.

After your urban chic ceremony, your guests will make their way throug the front foyer into the patio that they entered from for an indoor/outdoor cocktail hour. This super cute area does not need much embellishment as Warehouse 215 includes 6 cocktail tables and landscaped lighting for ambiance. For smaller events, this area could host up to 85 people for a ceremony.

One of the absolute COOLEST things about Warehouse 215 is their built in photobooth backdrop! You read that right- a venue that literally comes with its own photobooth backdrop. The gorgeous brick wall facade is easily decorated and the venue provides some props for your guests to selfie the night away!  In addition, Warehouse 215 also has a self-serve camera/printing station as an optional upgrade.

Speaking of upgrades, the venue is easily able to upgrade your rental to include those luxurious details we all love. Ivory linens are available as an upgrade to the included black poly cotton ones. A large chandelier is available for the ceremony space, there are 10 uplights available as well as bistro lights to string across the ceiling.

When its time for the reception, Bay 3 is the place to be! Three beautiful chandeliers hang down the middle of the event space, included in all rental packages. The venue has a select number of round tables for seating as well as rectangular tables for vendors or stations, however you are welcome to bring in any rentals you wish (AND you have the time to do it with that glorious 4 hour load in window!) Oh, and for the minimalist client, non-floral centerpieces are included in all rental packages.

Warehouse 215 can hold up to 300 people in one bay, but the space is zoned to hold up to 1,200 people making it a great option for larger events such as formals and proms. All three rental spaces (and security) are included in rental fee.

Warehouse 215 has a liquor license, so your alcohol service is hassle free as they take care of the purchasing and the bartenders. They also have partnered with 5 exclusive catering companies to ensure exceptional service within this unique space.

What I love about Warehouse 215 is that it is a blank space for clients to do whatever they want. There is a lot of flexibility both layout wise and design wise, which makes this an ideal location for both the traditional and a-typical client. I really love the potential of the space, and even if a client came into the space without budget to invest in a robust design scheme. You can still have a beautiful event because minimalism works here.

For the lighting or technology enthusiast, Warehouse 215 is a dream venue with almost limitless possibilities for lighting design or technology integration.

Brides and grooms are able to get ready onsite with blocked off/semi-private restroom and changing areas.

Warehouse 215 offers a 2 week complimentary hold for clients who are interested in booking the venue but need a little time to make their decision. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable and work closely with the owners to evolve and maintain the venue’s accessibility and general awesomeness.

Venue of the Month: Kunde Winery

We kicked off this wedding season with a Monday (yes, Monday) wedding at Kunde Family Winery in Kenwood, California. The Napa and Sonoma wine country region can be difficult to navigate for those who are looking to host a wedding, as there are literally hundreds of gorgeous venue options. We consider Kunde Winery one of the top, and you’ll soon see why.

The winery sits just off of the Sonoma Highway, north of the city of Napa. Its rolling hills are neatly uniformed with acres and acres of vineyards, interspersed with stately olive and oak trees. What I love most about Kunde are the dynamic options they offer in private event spaces.

Hosts can utilize their impressive Tasting Room to book private tasting events complete, or simply enjoy time on their public patio next to a serene pond and manicured grass.

For a more intimate affair, the working cave tunnels offer a small private dining space that can accommodate up to 40 guests. There is something truly magical about being in a wine cave. Kunde Winery’s wine caves ring with history and presence of its long-running wine production. Their wine cave private dining area is best enjoyed with close family and friends, as well as lots of romantic candlelight.

The Hill House on property offers a lovely little escape from the rest of the world. It can accommodate up to 60 guests and offers several amenities such as lounge furniture and a built in bar. Don’t worry, just because you’re inside does not mean you are sacrificing views. The site features breathtaking views of Sonoma Valley and the Mayacamas Mountain range.

Even with all of the amazing options listed thus far, Kunde Family Winery is known first and foremost for its hilltop locations. Boot Hill and Olive Hill offer stunning, sweeping views of the property and surrounding hills, giving guests a full visual experience of the Napa wine country. Olive Hill is a smaller location, accommodating up to 75 guests for a seated ceremony with one of the best backdrops any wine country bound couple could ask for.

Boot Hill is the option for those looking to host their reception at the property’s hilltop for up to 250 guests. With a built in bar as well as permanent restrooms and kitchen prep space, it is extremely easy to utilize this space and make your event dreams come true. The gravel area is perfect for seated rounds, while the grass area offers a wonderful solution to cocktail hour or even a lounge area during dancing. For dancing, there is a dedicated dance floor area complete with string lights all ready to go. Can we say perfection?!

Venue of the Month: Troon Country Club

Welcome to the second installment of our newly revived Venue of the Month blog!

As many of you know, expanding your service to a new area requires a lot of research and networking. That means making regular appearances at industry mixers, meeting new people and getting a lay of the land. I will forever be grateful how easy Nicole Pound with Troon Country Club made it for me to not only meet her, but come tour her spectacular property.

First of all, as a new Phoenix area driver, finding the location was a snap. Tucked into the  foothills of Troon mountain, Troon Country Club is easily accessible and welcoming. They differ from their neighbors such as Troon North and the Four Seasons as they are the only privately owned, membership oriented, property. Their parking is plentiful and it was an easy stroll up to their clubhouse front doors.  The entrance foyer is equally impressive from both the outside as well as the inside. Friendly staff greeted me as I waited to start my tour.

The club is clean, simple elegance.

The entrance hallway has a bright chic feel to it, which lends perfectly for portraits or a first look location.

The Clubhouse dining room is just as bright, with 3 of the walls fulls of windows.

The centerpiece of the room is a fully stocked, handsomely designed bar that offers guests ease of access to any part of the room or outside to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

I’m not sure what every Arizona bride would want as their ceremony backdrop, but how about the stunning spire of Pinnacle Peak?

The ceremony landing on the rich green grass is immaculately groomed, juxtaposed perfectly with the natural background. Their ceremony package also comes with a rehearsal time slot, a bridal dressing room, white folding chairs, vendor and welcome tables, as well as a guaranteed back-up space in case of rain. There are numerous upgrades available as well, such as gold chiavari chairs and mimosa/bloody mary bars. Yes please.
