Last year’s Pantone color of the year, Emerald Green was chosen to inspire growth and renewal. This year’s choice will uplift and enhance the growth found from last.
Radiant Orchid (18-3224) is the choice for color of the year set forth by Pantone Inc.
This shade of purple, “inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. It is considered to be a contrast to last year’s Emerald green although it is not a standard shade of red that one might expect.
“People associate purple with creativity and originality – and those are very valued today. We see words like that being used to describe technologies and products that are seen as innovative and with an approach you haven’t tried before,” says Eiseman.
This color is great for outdoor weddings as it is a compliment for olive tones and deep hunter greens. It would also be great for those getting married in the spring because the light yellows and turquoise tones often seen that time of year are fantastic when seen next to it.
If you are not a fan of super vibrant and bright colors but still want that pop of color, radiant orchid can be just the color for you as it also compliments shades of beige, gray and taupe without overpowering them.
How do they come up with the color of the year? Well, “The choice is influenced by movies in production, fashion runways, traveling exhibitions, new artists, technology, travel hot spots, sports and other socio-economic conditions.” -Chicago Tribune.
