It truly is the most wonderful time of the year! We love the holidays for a variety of reasons: the food, the family, the jolly spirit, and of course, the decor! Helping clients design their holiday tablescape is one of our favorite ways to get into the holiday spirit, and this year we decided to do something we have never done before to get into the mood. 

Welcome to first ever holiday table style guide! We have taken some of our favorite designs and broken them down to show you how to recreate the same style in your own home. Furthermore, we have worked hard to embrace sustainability in every aspect of the design. Each element shown has some sort of sustainable feature- whether its environmentally friendly, sourced from a local small business, or has a social responsibility factor. This consciousness is something we aim to include in all future designs and events, one of the exciting changes happening for MIRAwed in 2018!

Urban Glam

Everyone who lives in the city will tell you that they love the energy that comes with the location. Whether its San Francisco, Phoenix, or somewhere in between, we love integrating the industrial feel of a big city with cozy elements to create something multidimensional, trendy, and of course glamorous. 

Associate Planner Kristan Shamus took the lead on designing this urban glam holiday table, complete with fabulous copper touches and modern, earthy elements. Imagine a table full of fine glass and crystal details softened by wooden and pine greenery while your TV broadcasts the yule log in tune to classic holiday music and you sip a delicious holiday cocktail… perfection!

Sustainability notes: In addition to being stunningly gorgeous, copper can be recycled 100%, which means that even if the dishware gets tossed after a few years it can still be put to good use. Soy candles are both trendy and sustainable with a cleaner burn that traditional wax candles. Dried lunaria can last for several uses if properly cared for, and looks great in a wide variety of designs.

Mountain Boho

Nothing says winter like a cozy cabin in the mountains. Tahoe winters are truly magical, and we wanted to bring some of that inherent beauty into the design of this table. Our fall intern, Tesia took the lead on sourcing many of the elements for this bohemian inspired, rustic design.

Pine and wood are two favorite elements to integrate into any holiday design table. By adding a little bit of local charm you can transform your table into something that is both calm and bright. 

Sustainability Notes: Gauze and silk, when made organically from a local source, are some of the most sustainable materials out there. They can transform any table design to add a whimsical and/or romantic touch. We love using them for any season, but cozied up next to some locally sourced pine twigs and under the glow of a soy candle might be our most favorite of all!

Winter Desert

Even if there is no snow, the desert can be a magical place in the winter time. The frigid air over a subtle colorscape makes for an inspired view. For this design, compiled by lead designer Miranda Meisenbach, we wanted to showcase some of that natural inspiration. 

Using elements native to Arizona, we created a design that would fit into any southwestern home with a simple color palette and light texture. We didn’t want to just go for the iconic saguaro motif like most typical desert designs, but that didn’t stop us from integrating our famous cactus in smaller details.

Supporting local businesses was also a highlight of this design, most strikingly in the custom wood table pictured in the collage. No dining room table is complete without a striking table, and we cannot resist good craftmanship. One of our preferred vendors, Stems & Style, has teamed up with local craftsman Neft Pichardo on a line of high end wooden tables available for rent. Neft has over 25 years of experience and specializes in high end woodwork and custom finishes. 

Sustainability Notes: Sourcing local goods reduces greenhouse emissions caused by the entire consumer marketplace. The less distance a product has to travel to get from manufacturer to retailer to customer the more environmentally friendly! Shopping local is the best thing and individual can do for the local economy.  Utilizing locally foraged elements such as octotillo bones, pine, cotton, and pinecones is fun, sustainable, and available closer than you might think!

Venue Of The Month – Warehouse 215

Warehouse 215 is a converted art gallery in the heart of the downtown Phoenix warehouse district. For the southwestern client, this venue is the perfect something different from the typical mountainous backdrop scene. Its industrial charm, exposed brick walls, and architectural beams make it a perfect indoor venue for any occasion.


The venue was easy to find, conveniently just south of downtown with very easy access to both I-17 and I-10. There is plenty of parking both in their dedicated lot as well along the streets and the venue entrance is very easy to find.

Guests enter through the patio, which boasts multiple alcoves for a dynamic space. There is a certain artistic flair to the area, even though only a couple of statues are permanent space. The impressive main entrance into the venue itself is through large, industrial rust metal doors, which lead guests into a small foyer perfect for a welcome table, gift table, or greeter of some sort.

Warehouse 215 offer a generous 4 hours of set-up time (we LOVE that) as well as  5 hours of event time and 1 hour of tear down time in all of their standard event packages. As the venue is indoors, clients have great flexibility with the start and end time of their events- events can end as late at midnight!

The first large open space you will encounter is Bay 2- the space most popular for ceremonies. The layout is encouraging for many different types of ceremony set-ups but circular ceremony seating looks especially great in this space! Clients can choose between a white wall backdrop, brick wall backdrop, or window backdrop and the venue rental includes black resin folding chairs are included.

After your urban chic ceremony, your guests will make their way throug the front foyer into the patio that they entered from for an indoor/outdoor cocktail hour. This super cute area does not need much embellishment as Warehouse 215 includes 6 cocktail tables and landscaped lighting for ambiance. For smaller events, this area could host up to 85 people for a ceremony.

One of the absolute COOLEST things about Warehouse 215 is their built in photobooth backdrop! You read that right- a venue that literally comes with its own photobooth backdrop. The gorgeous brick wall facade is easily decorated and the venue provides some props for your guests to selfie the night away!  In addition, Warehouse 215 also has a self-serve camera/printing station as an optional upgrade.

Speaking of upgrades, the venue is easily able to upgrade your rental to include those luxurious details we all love. Ivory linens are available as an upgrade to the included black poly cotton ones. A large chandelier is available for the ceremony space, there are 10 uplights available as well as bistro lights to string across the ceiling.

When its time for the reception, Bay 3 is the place to be! Three beautiful chandeliers hang down the middle of the event space, included in all rental packages. The venue has a select number of round tables for seating as well as rectangular tables for vendors or stations, however you are welcome to bring in any rentals you wish (AND you have the time to do it with that glorious 4 hour load in window!) Oh, and for the minimalist client, non-floral centerpieces are included in all rental packages.

Warehouse 215 can hold up to 300 people in one bay, but the space is zoned to hold up to 1,200 people making it a great option for larger events such as formals and proms. All three rental spaces (and security) are included in rental fee.

Warehouse 215 has a liquor license, so your alcohol service is hassle free as they take care of the purchasing and the bartenders. They also have partnered with 5 exclusive catering companies to ensure exceptional service within this unique space.

What I love about Warehouse 215 is that it is a blank space for clients to do whatever they want. There is a lot of flexibility both layout wise and design wise, which makes this an ideal location for both the traditional and a-typical client. I really love the potential of the space, and even if a client came into the space without budget to invest in a robust design scheme. You can still have a beautiful event because minimalism works here.

For the lighting or technology enthusiast, Warehouse 215 is a dream venue with almost limitless possibilities for lighting design or technology integration.

Brides and grooms are able to get ready onsite with blocked off/semi-private restroom and changing areas.

Warehouse 215 offers a 2 week complimentary hold for clients who are interested in booking the venue but need a little time to make their decision. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable and work closely with the owners to evolve and maintain the venue’s accessibility and general awesomeness.

Planning an Arizona wedding?

Change can be a very scary thing.

I think its natural to be both excited and afraid of change. This was certainly the case when I decided to move down to Phoenix, Arizona to be closer to family and pursue a better life for my children. What would become of my friendships? What would become of my work? Would this completely destroy everything I had worked for over the past 8 years?

Not knowing is a wedding planner’s biggest fear.

I can honestly say that the driving force behind this move was a strange level of faith that I hadn’t exercised in a long time. I didn’t KNOW what would become of us, but I KNEW it was going to be ok. God would provide. And God has blessed us more than I can fully comprehend sometimes.

I write this today, BEYOND elated at the opportunity that lies before myself and my company. While still maintaining a steady stream of events in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are poised to fully immerse ourselves in the wondrous, thriving special event market of the greater Phoenix area.


An Arizona wedding is truly something special. The Valley boasts some of the most beautiful resorts in the entire world. Downtown Phoenix is a thriving, trendy district with a plethora of chic venues and restaurants. Country clubs are literally everywhere. The mountains are incredible. The sunsets are simply astonishing. The weather is unbeatable.

Yes, we are going to do just fine here.

Although I am now officially an Arizona wedding planner, I am still so incredibly grateful for our California clients who continue to put their faith in us to produce something special for them. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world every time I travel to the Bay, blessed to call this life “work”. Venue of the Month: Troon Country Club

Welcome to the second installment of our newly revived Venue of the Month blog!

As many of you know, expanding your service to a new area requires a lot of research and networking. That means making regular appearances at industry mixers, meeting new people and getting a lay of the land. I will forever be grateful how easy Nicole Pound with Troon Country Club made it for me to not only meet her, but come tour her spectacular property.

First of all, as a new Phoenix area driver, finding the location was a snap. Tucked into the  foothills of Troon mountain, Troon Country Club is easily accessible and welcoming. They differ from their neighbors such as Troon North and the Four Seasons as they are the only privately owned, membership oriented, property. Their parking is plentiful and it was an easy stroll up to their clubhouse front doors.  The entrance foyer is equally impressive from both the outside as well as the inside. Friendly staff greeted me as I waited to start my tour.

The club is clean, simple elegance.

The Clubhouse dining room is just as bright, with 3 of the walls fulls of windows.

The centerpiece of the room is a fully stocked, handsomely designed bar that offers guests ease of access to any part of the room or outside to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

I’m not sure what every Arizona bride would want as their ceremony backdrop, but how about the stunning spire of Pinnacle Peak?

The ceremony landing on the rich green grass is immaculately groomed, juxtaposed perfectly with the natural background. Their ceremony package also comes with a rehearsal time slot, a bridal dressing room, white folding chairs, vendor and welcome tables, as well as a guaranteed back-up space in case of rain. There are numerous upgrades available as well, such as gold chiavari chairs and mimosa/bloody mary bars. Yes please.

There are literally dozens of possibilities at Troon Country Club.

The sunny poolside patio is a great option for a fresh feeling cocktail reception. The event locations are located close to one another, making guest migration a breeze.

The main event space, the Troon Room, is just as spacious as one might hope for, with a ton of natural light and high arching ceilings.

The space, set to receive some renovations this off-seasons,  can accommodate up to 180 people, pending floor plan. All wedding reception packages come with tables, chiavari chairs, choice specialty linens, a dance floor and more.

Exciting News for MIRA Events + Design!

For 8 long, beautiful years I have worked endlessly to see my little business grow and sustain in the San Francisco Bay Area. For the last 3 of those 8 years, I have enjoyed traveling all over Northern California in pursuit of our mission to create meaningful, inspiring, reverent, and generally awesome events for our clients. All in all, California has been not only MY birthplace, but the birthplace of MIRA Events and every other dream I’ve ever had.

Sometimes, our dreams don’t come true the way we envision them. Sometimes they don’t come true at all, unless you do something drastic. My dream of owning a house in my hometown of Los Gatos, for example, was simply NOT going to happen for a single mother running her own (mainly seasonal) business. My dream of raising my children close to family wasn’t going to happen with them all living hundreds of miles away. My dream of going back to school to finish my degree wasn’t going to happen living the lifestyle I was. I knew, after 8 long, beautiful years, that it was time to make a change.

Rather quickly, a series of events occurred that lead me to make one of the biggest decision I have ever made. I decided to move, for the first time ever, out of state to live closer to family in Cave Creek, Arizona.

The decision happened quickly, but the move did not. We were in the midst of wedding season, and every day it became harder and harder to say goodbye to the glorious weather, diverse geography, and thriving spirit of my beloved California. I just couldn’t imagine not being back in my home state on a regular basis. I began to think….

Why did I and my company have to choose? Why couldn’t we do both? Why couldn’t we offer comprehensive and personalized planning and design services to clients in both states? We couldn’t we use our dual location to bring our clients fresher ideas, cross culture inspiration, and even more vendor resources? Why couldn’t we dedicate our summer months to California clientele and escape the ghastly heat of the desert?

After climbing over the bulk of our biggest wedding season yet, I slowly began to put the pieces together for the relaunch of the new company. There is still much to be done, including a website revamp and a formal launch in Arizona, but I am so excited about the mountains of possibilities (pun intended) that this news simply could not wait any longer.

I am pleased to announce the expansion of MIRA Events + Design!

We now offer our distinct wedding and event planning services to clients in both California AND Arizona- and beyond! We are excited to continue our mission of creating unique beauty for our clients and producing seamless, stress-free events.
