Sometimes, just when you think you have your wedding season schedule set and that no more amazingness could possibly fall into your lap, it does.
I received a call from Barbara in late July for her wedding in September. She initially called inquiring about our Wedding Management services, but during our initial conversation, she realized there were many additional elements she needed assistance with. We developed a customized package for her to include day-of management and design consultation, and I am SO glad we did.
Barbara’s taste was much in line with my own. Clean, feminine, neutral, and sparkling with crystals. She expressed a huge desire to have her guests dining along one long dinner table across the venue’s expansive lawn, as well as to create an interactive and intimate setting for guests to enjoy the entire evening.
For those who don’t know, Villa Viscaya is a GORGEOUS mansion set on coastside cliff in La Selva Beach. It isn’t widely advertised, adding to the feel of exclusivity. The mansion has stately columns, grand landings and staircases, and a certain Renaissance aire to it. It is truly one of the most stunning locations we have ever had the pleasure of working.
Back to our equally gorgeous couple. They were truly radiant on their wedding day, even with iffy weather looming overhead. They accepted the fact that rain would dictate much of the execution of this widely outdoor design, and were just happy to have their family and friends with them.
The sun peaked out for a few minutes prior to their ceremony, allowing us to wipe down the chairs and keep their ceremony roughly on time. When the sun continued to shine throughout cocktail hour, we made a game-time decision to move the already set dining tables and chairs out from under the patio awning to the grass, giving Barb and Frank their wish.
As a planner, I have lots of great memories from my clients’ events. Up on that list is the squeal of excitement and endless displays of gratitude from Barbara when she saw us moving the tables out onto the lawn. “You’re moving them! You’re moving them!” she exclaimed in excited disbelief. Suddenly my and Elegant Events’ staff’s expressions turned from mild annoyance to sheer pride. We were all working together to go the extra mile and make this day perfect for Barbara and Frank. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the power of a team.
The evening was truly magical. The stately mansion, the perfect ocean sunset, the ambiance of good friends celebrating over good food for a better-than-good love. So amazingly did Phillips Photography capture this event that Ceremony Magazine featured this wedding as a “Wedding of Distinction” in the 2014 issue.
Congratulations to Barbara and Frank! May your love be as endless as the ocean sky.
